As a part of our ongoing commitment to serve God’s people in our world, I am proud to announce a new ministry at Faith Church Dolton. “WELCOME HOME” a housewarming gift ministry.

This ministry is in conjunction with the Re-Entry Rental Assistance program of our community partners at RESPOND NOW.

The Re-Entry Program at Respond Now is first and foremost a Rental Assistance program for individuals who have had involvement with the criminal justice system in the past 3 years.

The goal is to help provide a stable place of living while those who have been in jail/prison have a chance to get re-acclimated and get back on their feet. Evidence has shown that providing housing first can significantly reduce the chance of recidivism.

While Respond Now can provide rental assistance they only have limited resources to help with the other essential needs of a person or family going from homelessness to a home of their own.

That's where Faith Church comes in. We will collect and store items that can make up gift baskets of vital everyday things that a person would need to make a new home/life better.

After getting settled, participants in the reentry program are strongly encouraged to participate in creating an Individualized Service Plan to guide them in reaching their goals and becoming increasingly self-sufficient.

What a privilege God has given Faith Church to be in ministry with his people at such a crucial time in their lives and to play some small part of their ability to move to independence and self-reliance.

I believe like the Apostle Paul who said; we are enriched in every way so that we can always be generous. And when we take our gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. (Paraphrase 2 Corinthians 9:11)
