"The NEXT Movement"

There have been many great movements within our Christian faith. Methodism did not start as a denomination but as a reform movement within the Anglican community. The name Next Movement comes from our belief that the next great movement within the Christian community will involve a Jesus of justice who corresponds with the Jesus of salvation in the way that we preach, teach, and live out our faith.

John Wesley talked about “social holiness.” While some disagree about what that meant to him, at Faith Church we believe that it’s “to witness to Jesus Christ in the world, and to follow his teachings through acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion under the guidance of the Holy Spirit”. It is the only way to follow Jesus’ command to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love those we are in community with as we love ourselves.

Sometimes the call for social holiness requires us to be unapologetically radical, with a clear analysis of how corporate power, inequality, and structural racism are the powers and principalities standing against the well-being of our siblings in the communities where we live/serve. God’s laws of justice do not allow race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, educational background, legal status, economic background, and mental or physical ability to be used as a reason for unfair treatment.
